After coarse screening, is used the Rotostrainer of series R, to separate solids from liquid. Filtering surface, which is a profile made by trapezoidal bars, is made in stainless steel. Drum, slowly rotating, brings the solids contained in the sewage towards the scraping blade, while instead the washing system cleans the filtering surface.
Main advantages of COSME machines are: cheap units easy to install, possibility to filter big flowrates in space with small overall dimensions, self-cleaning of the filtering surface on rotostrainers, units made in stainless steel with long duration in the years, no bearings in contact with sewage, easy use, low costs for operation and maintenance.
In Russia, in the plant of Kamenskaya, are installed Rotostrainers model R300 with spacing 1 mm, able to treat thousands of m3/day of water.

At inlet of plant is installed the CP Coarse Vertical Bar Screen, to separate solids from water. This mechanical screening is made inside the channel where screen is installed.
