Challenge
The Italian Ecosistem Group offers an integrated waste management service, minimising the environmental impact. They based their decision to purchase a new soil washing and waste stabilization plant from Baioni Crushing Plants SpA on industry reputation. The two installations allow to produce two grades of quality certified sand and gravel to be used as recycled aggregates in the cement industry. Baioni was contracted by an Italian operator to design, implement and manufacture soil washing cleanup of various contaminated soils to be treated on a huge process platform. Baioni determined technical feasibility of the project through a treatability study which indicated that the soil could be remediated through a complex process aimed to achieve a production of 10 thp, using various equipment. The soil washing and waste stabilization installations are built on specific customer's requirements, totally exclusive and customized, based on removal of contaminated particles through physical separation, washing, dewatering and chemical-physical treatment and reuse of wash water in a closed circuit.
According to the Client, the system is easy to operate, he says he enjoys the flexibility the Baioni solution gives and guarantees. After being processed by the whole Baioni system, the output products are 96% recovered and sold as recycled aggregates and 4% suited for landfill disposal. “We’ve had a very good return on the Baioni system. It’s extremely reliable and easy to operate,” the Client said. “The system has the ability to work around the clock with very few, if any, breakdowns, and that’s important because we can’t afford downtime during our season. It’s been a very premium installation”.
